Reveal A More Youthful Face

Improve skin tone, texture, and luster while reducing wrinkles with a chemical peel at Dr. Fodor’s Beverly Hills medical clinic. Choose the chemical peel that’s right for your skin needs. Individuals looking to improve skin texture, skin color, and overall luster can have their light chemical peel performed by an esthetician. For more complex skin needs, such as reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and scars, deeper chemical peels are performed by Dr. Fodor using dilute acid designed to provide more noticeable results.

What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels use chemical acid solutions of varying strengths that are applied to the skin, most commonly applied to the face, to improve appearance and texture. Chemical peels may be performed alone or in combination with other procedures and treatments to provide the most drastic results. Depending on your individual goals the types of chemical peels used will be determined. Chemical peels are considered noninvasive and offer minimal risks and side effects compared to other procedures and treatments. Discuss your options and goals with Dr. Fodor to determine the right treatments for you.

How is a Chemical Peel Performed?

To begin your chemical peel procedure your face will be thoroughly washed to remove any excess oil and have a clean surface to treat. Your chemical peel may take approximately an hour to perform as the precise acids are carefully applied and the outer most layers of skin dissolve and peel away.

After your chemical peel procedure, the face develops a white, frosty appearance, which lasts several minutes. This is followed by a dark red hue. The next day Thymol iodide (U.S.P.) powder is dusted onto the chemically treated surfaces in liberal quantities. It is reapplied several times during the following 24 hours, until a thick crust forms. This crust remains for about five days. On about the sixth day, the crusts will gradually lift away, leaving behind a pink-colored skin. You will be instructed to specifically formulated ointment to remove redness and speed up healing.

Over the next three to six months the underlying, newly exposed skin may appear reddened before returning to a normal hue. During this period, the area can be covered with cosmetics as desired but must be protected from direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight is to be avoided for three to four months.

What are the Benefits of a Chemical Peel?

Patients choose chemical peels to create smoother skin surfaces and textures, and to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The result is a significant reduction to the cumulative damage caused by a variety of factors from sun exposure, lifestyle, and environmental factors. It offers results that are more permanent than injectables alone, but not as drastic or invasive as surgical options. When used in conjunction with routine and ongoing preventative and maintenance skin care programs chemical peels can greatly assist in the quest to “Be Your Best.”

How Much Do Chemical Peels Cost?

As with many treatment options the cost for your chemical peel procedure will vary based on a variety of factors. This includes the severity of your case, techniques used for treatment, and other options included in your session that will ultimately help you reach your goals. At your consultation, Dr. Fodor will be happy to discuss your options and cost based on your needs.
