Neurotoxin Facial Fillers
Improving facial shape is simple when you use neurotoxin facial fillers such as BOTOX®, Dysport®, and XEOMIN®. While neurotoxins have been used to treat a variety of symptoms from chronic headaches to muscle spasms, in cosmetic treatments they help to temporarily block nerve receptors in the muscle preventing fine lines and wrinkles from forming. When administered by experienced cosmetic surgeons like Dr. Fodor, they offer therapeutic benefits in drastically reducing the appearance of small lines in the face.
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX®, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® are all brand names for products in the neurotoxin facial filler family. The active neurotoxin is botulinum toxin type A which offers a predictable and lasting youthful appearance. Neurotoxins can be injected into various parts of the face, but are most commonly applied to smooth out the lines around the eyes, such as crows feet, frown lines between the eyebrows, also called “11’s”, and the deeper lines running horizontally across the forehead. This is due to how neurotoxins can reduce facial muscle activity which gives a more youthful appearance than other regions of the face.
Is BOTOX® Right For You?
Dr. Fodor will discuss all your treatment options and complete a full consultation before administering BOTOX®, Dysport®, XEOMIN® or any neurotoxin and injecting it into the fine lines around your face. BOTOX®, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® offer predictable improvement in appearance lasting for several months and reducing the onset of new fine lines or wrinkles during that time. Patients should expect follow up appointments to be performed to maintain their youthful appearance as the effects of the neurotoxin injections fade over time. It is important to discuss your goals with Dr. Fodor to determine the right course of treatment options for your to reach your goals.
Other Uses for BOTOX®
Most commonly known for achieving cosmetic goals, BOTOX® can offer treatments beyond enhancement of facial shape and rejuvenation. Neurotoxins, like BOTOX®, are used to reduce muscle spasms and temporarily block nerve receptors. Dr. Fodor has extensive experience using BOTOX® to treat a variety of conditions such as:
BOTOX® injections can offer a drastic reduction in migraine severity and frequency of occurrences by blocking the brain receptors that register migraine pain.
BOTOX® injections may be used to block the nerves controlling sweat glands reducing perspiration in specific areas that otherwise are prone to excessive perspiration.
BOTOX® injections reduce muscle spasms and can help greatly reduce some of the most common symptoms of muscle response disorders such as cerebral palsy, stroke or injury of the spinal cord.
Discuss your full medical history at your consultation to see if BOTOX® or other treatment options might be right for you.
