The difference between a tummy tuck and a mini tummy tuck depends on the patient’s specific goals and amount of excess skin that needs to be removed to achieve the best result. With a mini tummy tuck, the belly button is not likely to need revision. However, with a regular tummy tuck, the belly button will require revision to restore it back to it’s natural position when the skin and muscles are tightened.
What is Tummy Tuck Recovery?
Most patients experience moderate pain following abdominoplasty surgery but is easy controlled with the prescription pain pills. Patients should plan to have someone to drive them home from the surgery center the day of surgery on for the first post-operative appointments.
Tummy tuck patients will required to wear a girdle-like compression garment following surgery. This compression helps to control swelling and prevent post-surgical complications. Additionally, patients should stop taking aspirin and NSAIDS two weeks prior to surgery.
