Rhytidectomy (FaceLift and Near FaceLift Procedure)
Skin that is exposed to the sun, weight loss, and of course getting older can cause skin to loosen and sag, resulting in jowls and wrinkles. The muscles on the neck can slacken as well, causing you to look older than your actual age. Facelift is a surgical procedure used to help rejuvenate the face and neck, creating a more youthful appearance. Fresh, taut skin can make you look years younger.
Facelift Procedure Explained
During facelift surgery, incisions are first made along the hairline, by the ear, and around the earlobe. The facial tissues are detached and excess skin is removed. The underlying soft tissues are suspended, repositioned and restructured. The remaining skin is smoothed and tightened. The procedure may take three to five hours and side effects of facelift surgery include temporary swelling, numbness, bruising, and tightness. However, most patients report very little pain and only minor discomfort. In conjunction with facelift, the cheeks, chin and lips can be selectively augmented according to each patient’s individual needs. The result is a rejuvenated appearance.
Many of our patients request a full facelift procedure, but we often recommend less invasive approaches, which still result in significant rejuvenation and an improved facial appearance. Dr. Fodor’s initial evaluation and analysis of your face will help you determine whether you would benefit from what he calls a “Near facelift” approach. A near facelift can delay the need for a full facelift for as long as a decade.
